The goal of this course is to provide students with opportunities to concentrate on advanced wheel throwing techniques.
Students will learn to develop better control over their cylinders create forms with walls of uniform thickness improve handles spouts.

A sequence of courses is offered throughout the year as part of evening and weekend studies which provide basic skills instruction in a variety of applications from sculptural to functional working with high and low fire clay bodies.
In this class students will explore the sculptural and design potential of functional ceramic forms.
Techniques will include wheel throwing alteration of thrown forms piecing parts to make complex or larger forms and creating hand built accoutrements.
The course is aimed primarily at students who have previously taken a ceramics course and have the ability to center clay on a pottery wheel.
Functional pottery will be emphasized with technical demonstrations based on utility.
It is highly encouraged that students have previously taken a ceramics course and have the ability to center clay on a pottery wheel.
Students will learn a variety of hand built ceramic techniques beginning with traditional methods and moving toward current ceramic technologies.
